Sanjay Gandhi College of Education, Bengaluru Urban was established in August 1980 under the management of Jawahar Bharathi Education Trust by great visionary
Sri. P. Sadasivan.
It is one of the constituent colleges of Rajiv Gandhi Group of Institutions established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
The college is affiliated with Bangalore University, Bengaluru and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) in October 2014 under Act, 1956. The college has admitted to Grant-in-Aid from Government of Karnataka.
It is also recognized & approved by National Council For Teacher Education (NCTE), Bengaluru to offer B.Ed. course and accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade in (in 1st Cycle) on 19th January 2016.
With an object of promoting quality-based teacher education. Their Chairman Mr. Sadasivan’s potentialities, democratic attitude, and vision are the guiding and inspiring force behind the institution.
The main objective of Sanjay Gandhi College of Education is to produce competent and committed teachers. During the last 25 years, nearly 3000 students from various states such as Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh & Gujarat have successfully completed B.Ed. training from Sanjay Gandhi College of Education.
The college offers two years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course for those who have completed their graduation with minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.
Students here are admitted who completed their graduation from recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the Degree level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility for admission.
The college has got highly qualified and well-experienced teachers to train the students.
The teaching and guidance are given in different languages via English, Kannada, and Hindi. An average of 97% of the students passes out with a good number of distinction, and 1st class every year.
