Sampurna Montfort College, Bengaluru Urban was established in 1995. It is one of the 160 educational institutions in 20 States of India managed by the Institute of the Brothers of St Gabriel which is the parent organization of the Montfort College Society.

The Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel have been involved in academic, technical and special education in India since 1903 mostly for the poor and the rural population. The college is located in Bangalore city and spread over an area of 4.5 acres of land on the Old Madras Road.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

It is affiliated to Bangalore University, Bengaluru and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade - (CGPA Score 3.04 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 5th July 2012.

The college was established to offer Post Graduate Diploma in Holistic Psychological Counselling. From 1998, it has been conducting M Sc. in Psychological Counselling and later, in 2005 M.Sc. in Psychology was included. Its curricula entail teaching, evaluation, therapy, counselling and research in different sub-disciplines of psychology.

Presently, there is an increased reliance on psychological agencies and experts for support and guidance. The programmes at Montfort College aims at helping and equipping students with both conceptual inputs and hands-on skills training to identify and respond effectively to the needs of individuals and social systems in the present society.

In order to address the large requirement for trained mental health professionals in educational, family, health-care and industrial settings, Montfort College Society has pioneered counselor education training in India.
