Sacred Heart College, Madanthyar (Dist. Dakshina Kannada) was established on 15th June 1982 and it is a minority institution, governed & managed by ‘Catholic Board of Education’, Mangaluru. The college was established by late Rev. Fr. Ligoury D’Souza, with a novel objective of providing higher education to the rural youth.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

It is an aided institution affiliated to Mangalore University, Mangaluru and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) on 21st August 1990 & 12(B) on 5th March 1992 under Act, 1956.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade - (CGPA Score 3.14 on a 4 Point Scale in 3rd Cycle) on 22nd February 2017.

It is situated in Madanthyar, which is a Backward Malnad Rural area of Belthangady Taluk. For the last 34 years, 3551 students have graduated from the portals of this institution.

The college following the Curricula prescribed by the affiliating university. The university has introduced Credit Based Semester System (CBSS) for UG programmes and Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) for PG programmes. The institution effectively implements the Curricula through a proper time table, calendar of events and teaching plan.

The admission process of the institution is in line with the guidelines of Mangalore University, Mangaluru which emphasizes inclusiveness in higher education. The institution takes meticulous care to include students from disadvantaged communities, gender and differently abled.

The process of admission starts only after giving wide publicity.

At present, the college offers three years undergraduate courses in Arts, Commerce, & Management streams with optional specializations and offers two years postgraduate courses in Commerce stream under Mangalore University, Mangaluru. It also offers Add-On Certificate Courses.
