Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari and Dr. Kalidindi Suryanarayana Raju Arts and Science College (S.V.K.P. & Dr. K.S.Raju Arts & Science College) was established in 1974. It is affiliated to Adikavi Nannaya University, Rajahmundry and accredited by NAAC with 'B' Grade.
The college was established by S.V.K.P Arts and Science College Association with a forethought of taking Technical, Scientific and Arts & Commerce Education to the doorsteps of the rural population of the area. The name of Dr.K.S.Raju has been included in the name of the college to pay respect to his invaluable contribution for the development of the college.
The college is established in Penugonda, West Godavari which is a land of agriculture. The college is christened after the presiding deity, Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari. THe college came into existence due to the hardwork and dedication of Sri Vanka Satyanarayana, local M.L.A., and Sri Kotla Venkatramayya, the founder President of the college.
The college is built on 18 acres of land on the right bank of the Nidadavole-Narasapur canal in Penugonda, West Godavari District.
The college has been growing fast and it becomes obvious when we look at the increase in student enrollment figures of about 300 in 1974 to 1,957 at present. The Management, Principal, teaching, non-teaching staff and the students are well aware of the mission of “VAKBHUSHANAM BHUSHANAM” which is clearly mentioned in the college logo.
S.V.K.P and Dr.K.S.Raju Arts and Science College was established on 04/8/1974. The University granted affiliation at UG level for both 1st and 2nd year B.A., and B.Com in the same year through the Cabinet Resolution of Government of Andhra Pradesh. During the year 1978, B.Sc was introduced with Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Botany, Zoology, Chemistry. The college introduced B.Sc Electronics in 1984. Later, Computer Science at UG level was introduced as part of introduction of restructured programmes in 1986.
PG programmes of Master of Computer Applications (M.C.A) was introduced in 1992-93, Master of Business Administration (M.B.A) in 1993, Master of Arts (M.A)(Political Science) in 1995. Master of Science (M.Sc)(Organic Chemistry) and Master of Science (Zoology) were introduced in 2005.
