S. M. Joshi College, Pune was established in 1986.

The College is affiliated to University of Pune.

The college is managed under Rayat Shikshan Sanstha to impart education to all classes of society especially to the poor and the downtrodden which is the mission of the Rayat Shikshan Sanstha founded by late Padmabhushan Dr. Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil.

The management wants to establish one of the advanced and well-equipped educational centers in the jurisdiction of Pune University to meet the goals in globalization context.

The College started with Science faculty and as the need of the hour with Arts and Commerce faculties in 1989. 

The College imparts quality education and is working for the welfare of students.

The new trends in education are well adopted by the college.
