S.M College of Elementary Teacher Education (SMCETE), Rohtak was established in 2008.

The institute is approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).

The college imparts teacher’s training programmes at the undergraduate level. The diploma level programme of the college is approved by State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Haryana.

The college is fully equipped with multiple facilities provided to ensure all round development of its students within the campus. Well-qualified and experienced lecturers help the students in accomplishing their aim of becoming secondary and higher secondary teachers.

The college is well equipped with all modern facilities.

The college is affiliated to Maharshi Dayanand University, established in 1976 as a residential university through an Act of Legislative Assembly of Haryana with a specific objective to establish and incorporate a teaching-cum-affiliating University at Rohtak for the encouragement of interdisciplinary higher education and research with special emphasis on studies of Life Sciences and Environmental and Ecological Sciences.

National Assessment and Accreditation Council, NAAC, has graded it as B++ University.
