S. J. Grameen Seva Mahavidyalaya Pipri, Wardha was established in 1961.
The college is managed under Shiksha Mandal, Wardha under the central scheme of Rural Higher Education. As per directions received from the Central Government, the college decided to affiliate itself to Nagpur University in 1970.
While granting affiliation, the Academic Council of the university specifically noted the distinctive features of this institute and suggested to award a programme titled B.A. in Rural Services.
The College was renamed as the College of Rural Services since 1970. (Two other wings of former Rural Institute, Engineering and Agriculture were separated and affiliated elsewhere).
Keeping their sound foundation of Rural Services intact, the College has changed in course of time.
The junior wing of Arts and Science was started in 1975. The College was supplemented with Minimum Competency Vocational Courses (MCVC) in 1988-89.
The year 2003 proved to be a milestone in the history of this college.
The NAAC awarded B grade to the college and advised it to preserve and strengthen their distinctive features.
