S.D.P. College of Teacher Education, Nalbari was established in 1994. The college was named college of Teacher Education, Tihu at the time of its inception. It is one of the premier & co-educational institution of teahcer education in the region of Tihu, Nalbari Dist..

The college was established with a view to imparting training to young graduates and teachers educators to derive the best use of the concerned persons for performing teaching-learning activities in a useful manner in secondary level of education.

The college is affiliated to Gauhati University, Guwahati and recognized by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Bhubaneswar.

The college is set up on the land donated by a generous lady Mrs. Bulurani Pathak. The college is named after her parents as requested by the donor.

The college believes that the training of teachers is a big thing. Teachers decide the future of the nation. To educate the teachers is a big responsibility.

The college has taken up that responsibility and did well. The college aims at making the students understand their respective disciplines from the grass roots level. The college provides education by practical examples. The college when it comes to students always gives the best so that the student feels comfortable and that they concentrate on the course.

The institute offers one year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course for those who have completed there graduation with minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.

Students here are admitted who completed there graduation from recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the Degree level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks in eligibility for admission.

Various teaching and learning techniques are being used by the faculty to impart knowledge and skills to students at S.D.P.
