Ramananda Centenary College, Purulia was established in 1971.

Its affiliated to University of Burdwan.

The aim of the college is to provide excellence in education at the undergraduate level to the students of all communities and especially to the financially backward students in the rural area of the state.

With a view to helping the Mute Millions of the South East Manbhum, at present Purulia, to have for themselves a scope of higher education, Manbhum Ananda Ashram Nityanda Trust, an NGO, took up a momentous resolution of doing away with the curse of inferiority complex in the children of the soil and to make them the fit counterparts of those in other developed parts of West Bengal.

It is 50 Kms. away from and well connected with the two District Head Quarters, Purulia and Bankura.

The College offers under graduate courses in Arts and Science stream. The curriculum is designed by the Boards of Studies of Burdwan University and the college is well equipped with all modern facilities. The College comes under the University of Burdwan.

This University was started in 1960 with Sukumar Sen as its first Vice-chancellor. It occupies an exalted place amongst the universities of West Bengal. It has been awarded with 4 star statuses by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) to acknowledge the contribution of Burdwan University in the educational development of the state.
