Rajkiya Mahila Mahavidyalaya, DLW, Varanasi was established in 2000. Its affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth.

For the higher education of girls, Uttar Pradesh Government had started the Degree College. The opening of the College is done by finance minister of that time Mr. Harrishchand Srivastava “Harish ji”. For the College chief manager of D.R.C. Varanashi at that time Mr. O.P. Gupta had given 08 acres land.

In the peaceful and beautiful environment the building was made where the work of study and teaching are taking place.

The establishment of Government Girls Degree College D.L.W. is done by Uttar Pradesh Government on special request of D L C administration for the higher education of girls of DRC family. The requirement of active participation of girls/women is felt for the development of nation so that the girls should be made attracted toward higher education. It is found that after passing intermediate the girls use to leave their studies but if they get chance to study most of them can create the record in the development of different field.

I have seen in my study life and principle period that there are bright career of possibility in girls. My option is that girls should be made attacked toward higher education. In this direction the University is playing a very important role to develop interest of higher education in girls.

At present the college conducts U.G. Level courses in nine subjects - Hindi, Sanskrit, English, Homescience, Psychology, Physical Education, History, Sociology and Economics. Applications for starting P.G. Courses in Hindi, Home Science and Sociology have been forwarded to the Directorate of Higher Education Govt. of Uttar Pradesh. The New building for Commerce Faculty is under construction which is being financed by RUSA.

To develop qualities of leadership, courage, discipline, love for humanity and self-less service among the students, three units of NCC and Rani Laxmibai Rangers team are functioning in the college.

Every year indoor and outdoor sports competitions are organized on the annual Sports Day to keep the students and staff physically fit and healthy. Free Medical camps and talks by eminent physicians are oganized to monitor the physical health of the students.

To ehance the knowledge of our students experts from different subjects are invited by each department for special extension lectures. the IQAC of our college strives to enhance the quality teaching and learning among the students and teachers. The teachers of the college regularly participate in Orientation Courses, Refresher courses, workshops, and national and international seminars to be updated with the latest developments in their respective fields.

Our college provides scholarships and fee-reimbursement for financially poor students. Application of ICT in pedagogy is in offing. Modernization of Home Science practial lab has already taken place. More smart classes will be constructed by the grants from RUSA. Some of the students have already made mark at the national level in Kabaddi and Shooting and some of them are present public servants.

Our full emphasis is on eradicating our shortcomings as far as infrastructure is concerned. Steps are also being taken to support academically weaker students by taking tutorial classes. Our institution tries to point out and gradually remove our shortcomings by taking feedback and suggestions from students. Our institutions is striving to open PG Classes and more faculties to stretch the academic arena
