Raha College, Nagaon was established on 28th July, 1964. It is one of the premier institution and college came under the Assam College Employees (Provincialisation) Act in 2005.

The college is affiliated to Gauhati University, Guwahati and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) Act, 1956. It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade.

It has the only deficit degree college in the Raha constituency reserved for S.C. The college is permanently affiliated to Gauhati University, Guwahati to impart higher education upto T.D.C. Part - III (Major) in Arts stream.

The primary aim of the college is to impart quality higher education in the discipline of Arts and Vocational students with a fresh, strong and liberal vision of life that would enable them to face the challenge of life with greater confidence and poise.

Another important objective of the college is to inculcate the spirit of inquiry among the students and to instill in them the spirit of patriotism, dedication and humanistic values.

The college offers two years Higher Secondary Courses in Arts stream under Assam Higher Secondary Educational Council (AHSEC), Guwahati and three years Degree Courses in Arts stream under Gauhati University, Guwahati. It also offers some Career Oriented Courses / Add On Course.

The college also has a Contact Centre of Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL), Gauhati University for PG courses. Besides this, the college is running a Study Centre of Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOPU), Guwahati.
