R V Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Udaipur was established in  1937, under the vision and guidance of Late Manishi Pandit Janardan Rai Nagar. A little flame of hope for educating the citizens of India during the pre-Independence era has today emerged as a bright sun illuminating the students and scholars from different parts of the country and the world.The University offers undergraduate, post graduate and research courses in  the field of Humanity, Commerce, Social Science etc. It is also actively involved in Adult Education and Community Work programmes. The University has kept pace with the global developments through its constituent units in the distant rural areas as well. It was granted the status of 'Deemed to be University' during 1987. The University is renamed as Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth (Deemed) University in 2003. It has collaboration with overseas Universities including Slippery Rock University, USA for faculty and student exchange programme.The University has been honoured for its excellent services in the field of education, with some prestigious national awards including Nehru Literary Award, Lok Culture and Art Award, FICCI Award and National Child Development Award. The University is accredited B++ by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council)
