R.K. College (RKC), Madhubani was established in 1940.

Its affiliated to Lalit Narayan Mithila University

It was affiliated to Patna University in 1941. Later the college became a constituent unit of Lalit Narayan Mithila University in 1975.

The college got recognized under of UGC act and accredited by NAAC with B++ grade. R.K.Colleg is one of the associate colleges of foundation for academic excellence and access, New Delhi to help and secure social justice for students belonging to underprivileged section of the society.

The college is running an entry in services and remedial courses granted by UGC, New Delhi.

The college hosts IGNOU study centre with under graduate and post graduate degrees in Arts and Commerce, Diplomas and Certificate Programs.
