Puthimari College, Kamrup was established on 5th August, 1981. It is one of the premier institution of higher education in Puthimari area.

It is situated on the bank of river Puthimari in Kamrup Dist., the backward transportation and communication system hinders the college in its prosperity.

As a result of untiring effort of a group of eminent educationist and the people of the Puthimari area the college come into existence. This clearly shows that higher education was beyond the dream of the area. As good luck would have it, the emergence of the college by the Puthimari River comes forward to fulfill the long-felt thirst for higher education of the young generation.

The college is affiliated to Gauhati University, Guwahati and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) Act, 1956. It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade in 2012.

The college offers three years Degree Courses in Arts stream under Gauhati University, Guwahati. It also offers some Career Oriented Courses / Add On Course.

The college emblem bearing an image of the lightened lamp is suggestive of the ray of knowledge while the beams from the sun symbolizes the elimination of darkness of ignorance by the light of knowledge. The name of the the college and the date of its established is also stamped on it.

Rules and Regulations at Puthimari College, Kamrup:

• A minimum attendance of 75% is compulsory for a student to appear in Council and University Examinations as per instruction.

  In  case of absence owing to unavoidable circumstances , prior permission from the appropriate authority has to be taken. In case of sickness , students will have to produce a Medical Certificate with application from parent /Guardian without delay

• Use of any intoxicating item such as "Gutkha", and spitting writing and sticking anything on the college walls are strictly prohibited. Anybody found doing these will be punished
• Students are advised to collect their college identity card at the time of admission. Keeping identity card in the college campus is compulsory for them. The card must be renewed in every year
• All the student of the college are advised to come to college in prescribed college uniform. Violence of the same will subject them to strict disciplinary action.
• Students must park their vehicles in the area allotted for the purpose
• Ragging in any form inside and outside the campus is strictly prohibited
