Pune District Education Association's Annasaheb Magar College, Pune was established on 7th September 1941 and managed by Pune District Education Association (PDEA)-(R).

The Pune District Education Association, Pune was established by the great social reformer hon'ble Baburaoji Ramchandra Gholap and his colleagues with a vision and mission 'Bahujan Hitaya Bahujan Sukhay.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone on the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (in 2nd Cycle) on 15th September 2012.

The aim of the college is to provide the opportunity for higher education to the socially and economically backward students also caters needs to the girls.

The prime objective of starting this educational institute was to provide educational facilities to poor people, especially in the rural areas of Pune districts.

It is a women's private Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the urban part of Pune played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the admission criteria prescribed by the affiliating university.

The college offers two years intermediate courses in Arts and Commerce streams with various specializations under Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education, Pune.

The college also offers three years undergraduate courses and two years postgraduate courses in Arts, Commerce, Science, and Management streams with various specializations under Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. It also offers Add-On Certificate courses.

Students should have to choose one honor (core) subject with two or more as subsidiary (elective) subjects for the specific undergraduate streams.

The college also offers distance education mode courses under Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU), Nashik.

The college also running autonomous certificate courses in foreign languages and short-term courses in Marketing Reseach & Management and Tourism Management.

University examinations of different courses, examinations conducted by Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune, and various other examinations are held in the college premises.
