About Prakash College of Education

Prakash College of Education, Ahmedabad was established in June 1961. Before this, there was a dearth of B.Ed. colleges in Gujarat state. There were three to four colleges in Gujarat which provided the teacher education at that time.

It is one of the premier institutions to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is a Grant-in-Aid and affiliated to Gujarat University, Ahmedabad and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) in April 1988 & 12(B) in June 1961 under Act, 1956.

The college is approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Bhopal and accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade - (CGPA Score 2.28 on a 4 Point Scale in 1st Cycle) on 29th January 2009.

Prakash College of Education is run by a public trust, known as Prakash College of Education Trust. This since its inception is devoted to the cause of improvement of education and particularly secondary education through teacher education. The purpose of this institution is to prepare graduate teachers by proving qualitative teacher education.

The Prakash College of Education is also recognized study center of two years B.Ed. course offered by Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University, Ahmedabad through distance mode. The institution is also a research center for research in education.

The primary task of the institution is to prepare teachers for the betterment of the schools and society. The main aim of any education replica tag here is to proceed from darkness to light. By darkness we mean ignorance, the lack of knowledge, and by light means knowledge of understanding, so removing darkness and acquiring light is the prime objective of any educational institution.

The institute offers one year & two years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) courses for those who have completed their graduation with minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.

Students here are admitted who completed their graduation from recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the Degree level.

But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility for admission.

Various teaching and learning techniques are being used by the faculty to impart knowledge and skills to students at Prakash College of Education, Ahmedabad in its various departments.

  • The college has established an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) on 4th January 2009 to assure the quality of the college and also details regarding submission of Annual Quality Assurance Reports (AQAR) to NAAC annually
  • The college runs a canteen inside the campus where staff and students can have meals and snacks prepared in a hygienic manner and at an affordable cost
  • Internet facilities may be availed by the students and teachers as per their needs
  • A health centre has been available in the college for benefit of the students
  • State Government and the Central Government offers a number of scholarships to the meritorious students and the students belonging to SC / ST / OBC
  • A special complaint cell (Sexual Harassment Cell) has been formed for the female students in the college. Students can directly complain orally or by written application to the head of the cell. Apart from this, Ragging is strictly prohibited on the college campus
