Pompei College, Mangaluru (Dakshina Kannada) is a Religious and Linguistic Minority Institution was established on 6th July 1981 by Rev. Fr Bernard L. D’Souza in order to provide education primarily to the youth of this area.
It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
The college is affiliated to the Mangalore University, Mangaluru and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) on 21st October 1993 under Act, 1956.
It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade - (CGPA Score 3.31 on a 4 Point Scale in 3rd Cycle) on 15th September 2016.
It was a modest beginning with less than 100 students, 12 faculties, two non-teaching staff, and two UG programs were started in the college. Now the college on campus 707 students with three UG courses and a PG course, 35 faculties, 20 non-teaching staff. Most importantly they cater to the students with the rural background and also with poor socioeconomic backing.
It also fulfills the aspirations of higher education of the locality adding to the cultural context of the society by imparting academic and value education to students of all castes and creeds without distinction. The Catholic Board of Education, Mangaluru, manages the college.
The institution has given priority to teaching and learning process. It has created a better teaching and learning environment in the campus through improved infrastructural and human resources.
The aim of the institution is to achieve academic excellence through quality education. The college offers three undergraduate courses namely B.A, B.Com., BCA, BBM and one postgraduate self-financed course in Commerce under Mangalore University, Mangaluru. It has one additional self-financed B.Com section and also offers a few add-on courses.
The college has a transparent admission policy.
