P.K.R. Arts College for Women was established in 1994. Its affiliated to Bharathiar University, Coimbatore and approved by government of Tamil Nadu.

P.K.R. Arts College for Women is an unaided Autonomous Arts & Science College. It was started with a vision to empower rural women and is managed by Dhandapani Rural Charitable Trust Since 1994. The Colleg is located in a beautiful locale, surrounded by hillocks and green fields providing a serene and pleasant atmosphere for learning. The college is dedicated to the everlasting memory of late Thiru. Kalimudhaliar, who had a noble vision of educating the masses. Unfortunately, he was not able to realize his dream during his life time and the responsibility was bestowed on his grandson, late Thiru P.R. Natarajan, founder Correspondent of this college. Inspired by his grandfather's ideals, he dedicated his life to enlighten the rural women by starting a women's college in the name of his father Late Thiru. P.K. Ramasamy and this college emerged as P.K.R. Arts College for Women.

The Management's tireless efforts resulted in getting affiliation for more number of new courses every year. With strenuous efforts and progressive results, the college is now offering 12 Under Graduate, 8 Post Graduates, 7 M.Phil., 6 Research Programmes. As on date, there are 106 teaching staff members and 2,227 students in the roll. There are 7 Departments and 59 class rooms in the college. Every Departments has adequate number of computers with internet facility. The class rooms are quite spacious, ventilated and well furnished.

The College library has a diverse collection of 31,539 books along with the various National & International Journals and Newspapers. The audio-visual section houses CDROM's, audio and video tapes and cassettes pertaining to different subjects. The library is automated with OPAC of library holdings. It has 22 systems with Wi-Fi enabled.

The library remains open throughout the week including Sundays.

The college has well equipped four laboratories including two computer laboratories with 526 terminals and internet facility to undetake practical works and research studies in various disciplines like Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science. The Digital Language Lab Enables the students to improve their English communication skills. The entire college campus is fully Wi-Fi enabled.

The faculty members are encouraged by the College Management to organize and attend seminars, conferences, work-shops and symposiums. They are also motivated to pursue their research, Major / Minor Projects and publish articles. The College publishes bi-annual news-letters and magazines every year. The class-room teaching is highly interactive through paper presentation, projects and study tours. Every year around 20 students to get placement. IBM conducts placement training classes for the Post-Graduate students. The College conducts CA (Foundation Course) Coaching Classes for the students who are aspiring to become Chartered Accountants.

The college has a homely atmosphere hostel with accomodates 700 students. Ramp and lift facilities are available for the physically challenged students. An ATM centre has been set up within the campus. To provide FIRST AID, the college has a Health Centre. National festivals and Religious functions are celebrated to inculcate patriotic feeling and traditional values among the students. Every year the college conducts Graduation Ceremony, Alumnae and Parents meet. The College has been accredited by NAAC with 'A' Grade in 2013. Further an Autonomous Status has been granted by the UGC in 2017.

The M.B.A. & M.C.A. Courses are approved by AICTE, New Delhi.

The main aim of the college is to impart quality and value based education to rural women imbibing holistic view of life.
