Punjab Institute of Management & Technology (PIMT), Alour (Dist. Fatehgarh Sahib) was established in 1997 by Gobindgarh Educational and Social Welfare Trust (GESWT), a nonprofit organization as a pioneer institute to impart quality professional and technical education in management.

It is one of the premier oldest management & IT Institute of this region established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone on the part of progress.

The Institute is affiliated with the I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU), Jalandhar [formerly known as Punjab Technical University (PTU)] and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) under Act, 1956.

It is also recognized & approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi to offer Management courses. It also certified with ISO 9001:2008 Certification.

It is a co-educational institute, providing regular courses at primarily the higher secondary and undergraduate levels which are located in a rural part of an Alour played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The trust is well recognized in the academic world for its progressive approach and commitment to excellence. Centralized policies, decentralized administration, well designed institutional programme and flexible management system are the basis of its unique identity.

Establishment of this college has enabled Mandi Gobindgarh and nearby areas to have a premier professional institute. Mandi Gobindgarh despite having a high preference for education, did not have good colleges for higher education. The establishment of this college hopes to fill the gap.

PIMT runs full-time AICTE approved PG programmes in MBA, MCA & UG programmes in BBA, BCA, B.Com (Professional), BMS (ATH) and B.Sc. ( Agriculture).

The institute is offering specializations in Marketing, HR, Finance, Operations and IT for MBA course. It has been rated one of the Top B-Schools by B-School Survey as well as one of the Best MCA College in Silicon India.

Over the decade, the institute has transformed into the Centre of Excellence and is imparting Quality Technical Education and running courses like MBA, MCA, M.Com.(Prof.), BCA, BBA, B.Com.(Prof.), MCA(LEET), BMS(ATH) (previously known as B.Sc.

ATHM), B.Sc. (Agriculture). The institute houses state of the art academic infrastructure sprawled over 5 acres of land.
