Patharkandi College of Education, Karimganj was established in 1995. It is one of the premier instituiton established by the out come of sincere and dedicatory efforts of the local people under the bold charismatic leadership of Late Mr. Qumrul Hoque. Late Hoque was the sole inspiration behind the foundation of the college.

The college is affiliated to Assam University, Silchar and recongnized by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). The college was set up with an objective of becoming a centre of excellence by developing high quality teachers.

Since its inception the college has the distinction of achieving one or two ranks among the top ten of the university. It reflects the sincerity and devotion of the teachers towards the institute and commitment of the welfare of education, specially school education.

The institute offers two years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course for those who have completed there graduation with minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.

Students here are admitted who completed there graduation from recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the Degree level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks in eligibility for admission.

Various teaching and learning techniques are being used by the faculty to impart knowledge and skills to students at Patharkandi College of Education, Karimganj in its various departments.
