P.G. Department of Oriya-Berhampur University was established in 1968.

It is the first post graduate Oriya department to be visualised ever in Orissa at the university level with 16 students it now admits 24 students at the P.G. level every year.

Department provides specialised teaching in Bhanja literature, modern literature, folk lore and study of Oriya language.

The teachers of the department supervise dissertation for doctoral in research and undertake research projects.

At present there are 4 numbers of U.G.C and university research scholars in the department.
