Progressive Education Society's Modern College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Ganeshkhind (Dist. Pune) was established on 27th August 1992 and managed by Progressive Education (P.E.) Society(R), Pune which was established on 6th May 1934.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone on the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with the Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) on 9th January 2009 under Act, 1956.
 
It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (CGPA Score 3.26 on a 4 Point Scale in 3rd Cycle) on 22nd February 2017.

The Progressive Education Society has been established numbers of colleges/schools for the student in the region of Maharashtra and all over the India.

It is a co-educational grant-in-aid self-financed private institute, providing a regular course which is located in an urban part of Pune played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

Embarking on its educational journey with a humble beginning, the college has over a very short period, flourished as an academic hub of repute. The college has in the recent years introduced two new postgraduate programmes in addition to a bachelor of vocation course and few certificate courses.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the affiliating university.

The college has awarded as the best college by the affiliating university and also a number of awards in publication, offering scholarship & also awarded by the different society.

Presentation for “College with Potential for Excellence (CPE)" by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi was given on 29th January 2016 under XIIth Plan but the result awaited.

Modern College of Arts, Science, and Commerce, Ganeshkhind, Pune is awarded 'STAR STATUS' by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India on 28th May and also awarded with the status 'DST First' Program by Department of Science and Technology on 15th February 2012.

The college offers three years undergraduate & two years postgraduate courses in Arts, Science, & Commerce stream with various specializations under Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune.

It also offers Vocational, Ph.D., and Add-On Certificate Courses.

The college has a functional interactive website which promotes the use of ICT on the campus. Admissions to various UG & PG programs is done online. Further, e-documentation and digitization of administrative documents and records are in practice and this has not only helped create the institutional repository and facilitate easy access to information on the campus but has also reduced the use of paper.
