P.E.S. College of Science, Arts & Commerce, Mandya was established on 1st June 1966 under the management of People‘s Education Trust (R), Mandya (Estd. 1962) by Late Sri.K.V. Shankara Gowda, former Education Minister of Karnataka State Government, an Educationist, Politician, Artist, Entrepreneur and a Social Worker.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

It is affiliated to University of Mysore, Mysuru and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) and 12(b) on 1st July 1966 under Act, 1956.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade - (CGPA Score 3.03 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 28th March 2016.

The college is housed at present in an area of three acres of land on Bangalore- Mysore highway in the heart of the city. Sri.K.C.Lingegowda, the then District Judge of Mysore of Kommerahally village is the donor of this prime land.

Besides the undergraduate college, the People‘s Education Trust has the following colleges. P.E.S. Evening College, P.E.S. Pre-University College, P.E.S. College of Engineering, P.E.S.Law College, Shankaragowda College of Education and P.E.S.High School etc.

New construction has taken place at the cost of Rs. 3.8 crores. The construction houses 9 classrooms with five Virtual classrooms, well equipped Physics and Chemistry laboratories and a Library with open access and E-resources.

The college has 88% of students belonging to SC/ST and OBC (non-creamy layer) and is covered under section 2(f) and 12(b) of UGC Act. The location of the college is in Mandya city and the district is tagged as educationally backward.

To begin with, the college had 128 students for the Pre-University course in Science, later Commerce and Arts were included. The first undergraduate course began in the year 1969-70 in commerce with an intake of 60 students.

Later B.A, B.Sc and B.B.M courses were added. Post Graduate courses in Commerce (M.Com) and Mathematics (M.Sc) were added in 2012.

At present, the college three years undergraduate courses in Arts. Science, Commerce, and Management streams with various specializations and offers post graduate courses in Commerce & Science stream. It also offers Doctorate & Add-On courses under the University of Mysore, Mysuru.
