NMKRV College for Women (Autonomous), Bengaluru Urban was established on 15th June 1973 by Late Sri. M.C. Shivananda Sharma under the management of Rashtreeya Sikshana Samiti Trust, Bengaluru is the beautiful campus, gifted by the natural greenery and beauty, is a conducive and congenial environment for academic pursuits.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with Bangalore University, Bengaluru and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) on 2nd November 1997 & 12(B) on 30th August 1994 under Act, 1956.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade - (CGPA Score 3.22 on a 4 Point Scale in 3rd Cycle) on 15th November 2015. The college was granted an autonomous status by the UGC on 13th September 2005.

The college that was started as a Pre-University College in 1971 with just 150 students has grown by leaps and bounds. In 1973, it is bifurcated as the NMKRV Degree College for Women.

Based on the Goals of the Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi Trust, the vision of the college is to ‘Educate, Enrich & Empower students, especially girls. Since its inception, the college maintains its mission to educate and enrich the first generation learners to meet the challenges of the challenging world.

The founder’s believed in the dictum ‘Educating a girl child is like educating the entire family’. What was started in the early 70’s with a meager strength of 150 students has grown in just 43 years as an edifice of educational excellence with more than 2000 students and 150 Teaching Faculties.

The college as an Autonomous over 11 years has achieved many feats and climbed new heights. The college conferred the status of "College with Potential for Excellence (CPE)" by UGC in 2010.

Eighteen undergraduate and seven postgraduate programmes are offered and the college has the pride to say it is the first college in the state which started Post Graduate in Women’s Studies and also the pioneer in Journalism department.

The college has approved as a research centre in Chemistry by Kuvempu University, Shivamogga and Bangalore University, Bengaluru.

The college has a long-standing academic tradition of excellence in research and scholarship. This is coupled with the most advanced facilities for the pursuit of higher learning.

This college has fully committed, completely dedicated, and constantly improving faculties.  The academic records of the faculties are always stood high. There are currently 15 ongoing projects with the amount sanctioned for more than 2 crores of rupees funded by the various agencies like UGC, VGST, and DST.

Embarking on a modest journey from its inception, the college has witnessed many milestones, numerous academic and extracurricular achievements, humble services rendered to the community fruitful research, exhilarating placements, faculty awards and so on. Having carved a niche for ourselves in the academic arena, NMKRV College remains steadfast to one central commitment to provide a balanced, comprehensive education.

At present, the college offers three years undergraduate & two years postgraduate courses in Arts, Science, Commerce, and Management streams with providing various specializations under Bangalore University, Bengaluru. It also offers Add-On courses and has a contact centre of Kuvempu University, Shivamogga.
