Nehru Memorial Government College Mansa was established in 1965 in the name of Pandit Nehru’s memory and came into existence on 18th August 1965.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with Punjabi University, Patiala and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.

It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B+" Grade (in 1st Cycle) on 2nd February 2006.

The aim of the college was the zeal to dispel the darkness of ignorance by spreading the light of knowledge and also the concern for the people of the predominantly rural area, bore fruit in the form of this college.

Nehru Memorial College happened to be the first co-educational college which catered to the educational needs of the area for about three decades before being taken over by the Govt. of Punjab on 18th March 1994, it was then rechristened as Nehru Memorial Government College.

Later Late Sardar Beant Singh, the then Chief Minister of Punjab, who was largely instrumental in the Punjab Govt. taking over the college, graced the college with his presence at a function marking the inauguration of the college as Govt. College on 21st March 1994.

It was a co-educational government Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the rural part of Mansa played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of education, sports and curricular activities under Punjabi University, Patiala.

The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts, Science, and Commerce streams and offers two years of post-graduate in Arts, Science, and Commerce streams with various specializations under Punjabi University, Patiala.

It also offers Post Graduate Diploma and Add-On Course.
