Navyug Arts College, Surat was established in 1966 under the management of Navyug Vidyabhavan Trust which was established in the year 1965 as a brain child of Late principal Dr. D. G. Vashi, an eminent educationist and visionary.

It is one of the premier institutions to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated to Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956. It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade - (CGPA Score 2.78 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 30th September 2009.

The institution was established on the other bank of river Tapti in the area today known as Rander Road.

In those days the institutes of higher education in various disciplines managed by the Sarvajanik Education Society were pocketed on the eastern banks of the river Tapti and the areas on the opposite side of the river were not fully developed.

The students of this area and those residing in the nearby villages found it difficult to commute every day to reach their respective colleges rather difficult as the means of transport were scant.

Late principal Dr. D. G. Vashi, then a professor of Statistics at Bilimora College, foresaw the need for an institute of higher education in this area. He was neither rich nor influential, politically or otherwise. However, he succeeded in materializing his concept into reality and decided to start Arts and Science College on Rander Road area.

As his idea and cause both were noble like-minded people joined hands with him and Navyug Arts and Science College came into existence in the year 1966 with a humble strength of 300 students

The college offers three years undergraduate degree courses & two years postgraduate degree courses under Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat.

• To provide opportunities for higher education in Arts stream to a large section of society
• To make no discrimination on the basis of caste, dogma, belief, group or gender and to render easy access to all who aspire for higher studies
• To promote an overall development of the students to enable them to face the challenges of the world
• To encourage the research work amongst the students as well as the faculties
• To not only equip its learners with academic excellence but to inculcate in them human values like love, sympathy, probity, patriotism, love for the nation and fellow human beings, etc and to make them better citizens

Objectives:

• To develop their creative dexterity by conveying them the knowledge of various subjects of Arts stream
• To equip them with academic brilliance and required talent to make them competitive for present day job market
• To bring environmental awareness in them
• It has been our humble endeavor to reach our goals and objectives through the teaching of the fixed syllabus
• We impart the knowledge of various languages like Gujarati, English, Hindi which provides different language skills like grammar, poetry, prose, composition, comprehensions, appreciation, essay writing etc.
• Students are exposed to vivid local, national and internal trends in the field of economics through their study of economics as their core subject
• We teach environmental studies as an inter-disciplinary subject to make our learner aware of problems of environmental issues
• The teaching of English at UG levels help the student to develop communicative skills and acquire proficiency in the language
