About National Brain Research Centre
National Brain Research Centre(NBRC), Gurgaon has been established by the Department of Biotechnology as a national apex center for brain research, to consolidate, network, and undertake basic research of high caliber in neuroscience and establish linkages with national/international organizations involved in neuroscience research. NBRC not only have infrastructural facilities and a coordinated multidisciplinary team of scientists working at the frontier of neuroscience (intramural), but also to support and network the existing groups in the country (extramural). NBRC function as a comprehensive brain research institute, which has been envisaged as a novel institute of its kind in having both intramural and extramural responsibilities. Research at NBRC would be carried out through a multidisciplinary approach by bringing together scientists working in different disciplines into the main stream of neuroscience. Highly integrated multidisciplinary team of scientists from varying backgrounds working together to pursue the objectives that are beyond the capacities of an individual investigator. NBRC focus primarily on those areas of neuroscience, which have so far not been adequately addressed, including the emerging interdisciplinary ones. NBRC has collaborations with RIKEN Brain Science Institute, Japan, National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), USA, Pavlov Institute, Russia, Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale (INSERM), and France. In 2006, Montreal Neurological Institute of McGill University (MNI), Canada and NBRC were declared sister institutes.
