Narula Institute of Technology (NIT), Kolkata was established in 2000.

NARULA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY is a leading autonomous Engineering and Management institute under the aegis of JIS Group Educational Initiative since 2001 and is located at Agarpara, Kolkata. It has been approved by AICTE, NBA, affiliated to West Bengal University Technology and recognized by UGC.

The institute is affiliated to MAKAUT, WB and the technical courses are approved by AICTE. The Institute has received prestigious NIRF ranking given by MHRD, Govt of India for the last 4 consecutive years. This year the Institute has ranked in the rank band of 201-250 in the Engineering category. It has NBA accredited degree programmes in Engineering. It also prides itself with the prestigious NAAC accreditation. The institute was deemed worthy of receiving the notable World Bank assisted and MHRD approved TEQIP (phase 2) grant for advancement of Technical education. It has also been deemed eligible for receiving central assistance under recognition of clauses 2(f) and 12(b) under UGC Act.

RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

The institute prides itself with a powerful Research and Development cell with immense contribution from stalwart scholarly faculty members. There is a repository of International and National journals, E-Book collections, volumes of online lectures which highlight the institute as a centre of national attention. The ambience of the institute encourages and supports various research projects and ten such projects are presently running successfully under the guidance and mentorship of the faculties and funded by organisations such as UGC, BRNS, AICTE etc. Recently the EIE department secured MODROBS grant for upgrading their Embedded System and Electronic Design Automation Lab. There has been the installation of a brand new Fluid power control system lab named as The JIS Bosch-Rexroth Centre of Excellence. The institute also boasts of two highly developed advanced Language Laboratories guided and installed with assistance from ORELL and ISILS (IIT-KGP).

It features language learning tools, state of the art PI systems to ensure the students develop their personality, communication and language skills necessary for a successful career.

COLLABORATIONS

The institute has collaborated with corporate bodies such as Tech Mahindra, Reliance JIO Infocom, CII, NASSCOM, Oracle, INFOSYS, TCS and institutes such as NIT Sikkim, IIT-KGP, AIT Bangkok and other institutes of repute.

Students are educated on the newest innovations in the field of technology and management through countless seminars, conferences, industry visits, workshops, field training organised by the institute frequently. Student chapters of various departments play a crucial role in organising informative technical events throughout the campus. Students participate in various competitions honing their technical and communication skills and showcase their innovations through technical and cultural events organised round the year.

• ICE & ASCE of Civil Engineering Department
• Institutes of Engineers India (IEI) of Electrical Engineering

CAMPUS

The institute boasts of a ragging-free campus and students are encouraged to show no tolerance for ragging. The campus also houses a Women’s Cell which specialises in prioritising safety of female students and staff throughout the campus and is active in cultural, infrastructural and functional levels of the institute’s hierarchy.

The faculties constantly endeavour for up gradation through refresher courses, special courses and online courses.
