About Nanda Nath Saikia College

Nanda Nath Saikia College, Titabar was established on 22nd July, 1959. It is one of leading provicialised college located at the heart of the Titabar sub-division and about 21kms South of Jorhat District headquarter.

At its north is the mighty Brahmaputra and Naga Hills stand at its South. Jorhat Airport is approximately 22 kms while Mariani, the nearest major Railway junction is about 15 kms from the college.

The college is affiliated to Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh in September, 1979 and recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) Act, 1956. It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade.

Nanda Nath Saikia College, is full-fledged college which caters to the academic requirements of several lacs of people of the vast Titabar area comprising a large number of tea gardens and paddy fields extending upto the foothills of Nagaland.

Since its inception, the college has been endeavouring in imparting quality higher education with excellent teaching faculties and support staff. With long 55 years of glorious service to the people the college at present possess a campus of 10.1 acres of land, a spacious auditorium, play ground, library, girls hostel along with some other facilities.

The college is a full grown college catering to the academic requirements of several lacs of people of a vast area comprising a large number of tea gardens and lush green paddy fields extending up to the foot hills of Nagaland.

The college was donated by Late Dr. Jiba Kanta Saikia, Ex-Director, Health Services, Govt. of Assam in the memory of his brother Late Nanda Nath Saikia, a well-known businessman and a social worker of Titabar.

The college offers two years Higher Secondary Courses in Arts & Science stream under Assam Higher Secondary Educational Council (AHSEC), Guwahati and three years Degree Courses in Arts & Science stream under Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh.

It also offers some Career Oriented Courses / Add On Course.

The college has well demarcated campus comprising 10.1 acres of land surrounded with lush green trees and plants
The college has separate individual departments for all subjects with young, dynamic faculty and non-teaching staff and getting a good results
There is a large play ground with an area of 110x80 sq.mtr within the campus for outdoor games such as Football, Cricket, Volley Ball, Badminton etc.
The College has well-equipped with Administrative Block, Academic Block, full-flagged Computer Laboratory, Auditorium, Conference Hall, Library, Hostel, Gymnasium, Play Ground & Canteen within the campus
The College has a well maintained library which provides about 22,225 Nos. books, 13 journals, 11 periodicals and 5 news papers. The operating system of the library has been computerized. Photocopy facility is available in the library at a nominal rate for the students. Besides, it also has spacious and separate reading rooms for the students and the faculty members of the college
The college has gained an unprecedented momentum in the fields of research and developmental activities, sports and culture. Reputed leading funding agencies of India like UGC, DBT, DST etc. have granted substantial fund to carry out research activities in different applied and allied subjects/ fields of higher studies
A fishery with an area of 70.8x19.7 sq. m is maintained within the college campus
A Botanical Garden enriched with various types of medicinal plants and rare species of flora is maintained by the department of Botany of this college
The indoor games facilities offered by the college include Carom, Table Tennis, Chess etc.
Internet facilities can be availed by the students and teachers as per their needs
The college has a well protected Girls Hostel within the campus with a seat capacity of 40 students. The selection of boarders is made by a screening committee based on the merit of the students. Application forms for the Hostel seats are obtainable from the office of the college at the time of admission
The college has established an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) to assure the quality of the college
The newly built Computer Centre offers facilities that include internet connectivity, web designing etc. to the students of the college
The college canteen provides refreshment to the students as well as faculty at subsidized rate within the campus
Seminars are organized at departmental levels from time to time to enrich the level of knowledge of the students in the relevant field
State Government and the Central Government offers a number of scholarships to the meritorious students and the students belonging to SC / ST / OBC
Student Aid Fund will be initiated and provided by the college for the economically weaker regular students of general category
There is a provision of Group Insurance Scheme under LIC (GIS) run from the student contribution of Rs 23.00 per head. Under this insurance scheme a student is given coverage up to Rs 20,000.00 in the event major injury or death
A college magazine is published annually with a view to giving scope for expression of the literary and creative talents to the students and teachers of the college
The college also provides NCC training to its students. The NCC cadets attend different camps and earn pride for themselves and for the college
The college Unit NSS Wing performs different type of social services within and outside of the area
