Master Tara Singh Memorial College for Women, Ludhiana was popularly known as MTS Memorial College for Women established in 1968 was the first women college to commemorate the cherished memory of Master Tara Singh and managed by Master Tara Singh Memorial College Society (R).

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with Panjab University, Chandigarh and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956. 

The aim of the college was committed to providing an inspiring center of excellence tailored to girls education also devoted to preparing the students for life, groom them to face the challenges of tomorrow, and encourage them to be socially responsible.

It was a woman self-financed Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the urban part of Ludhiana played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of education, sports and curricular activities under Panjab University, Chandigarh.

The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts, Management, and Commerce streams and offers two years of post-graduate in Arts, Commerce, and Management streams with various specializations under Panjab University, Chandigarh. It also offers Post Graduate Diploma, and Add-On Certificate courses.

In the year 2002, the college introduced two new vocational subjects at B.A. Part I level-Information Technology and Fashion Designing in addition to Office Management and Secretarial Practice already operating in the college since 1998.

In the session, 2003-04 three more add-on courses were introduced-Hospital Waste Disposal Management, Child Care, and Dress-Designing apart from introducing subjects like Indian Classical Dance, Maths, and Fine Arts.

Special attention is paid to the overall development of students by running short courses in Computers, Stitching, Metal Embossing, Cookery, Embroidery, Rangoli, Spoken English and Personality Development during summer vacation.

The Students are also trained to compete for various competitive exams like B.Ed., U.G.C. Net etc.
