Mulki Sunder Ram Shetty (MSRS) College, Udupi was established on 1st August 1980 under the management of Vidyavardhaka Sangha (Regd.), Shirva (Dist Udupi).

It is one of the premier institutions established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated to Mangalore University, Mangaluru and with grant-in aid funding, the college is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) on 6th September 1993 under Act, 1956.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B++" Grade - (CGPA Score 2.77 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 22nd February 2017.

The college was founded with the aim of meeting the growing demand for University Education in this part of the rural region of Udupi Taluk & Dist. Vidyavardhaka Sangha, the Society which has sponsored the college has always aimed at spreading education among the rural people who are the backbone of the country and has always believed that the salvation of any country depends directly on education.

The college is located in a peaceful and serene surrounding. The building and other facilities of the college are spread out in about 15 acres of expanse. The campus provides an ideal atmosphere for education.

Admission is made on the basis of merit and reservation policy of the Government, in a transparent manner. 95 % of the students enrolled belong to SC, ST, and OBCs.

The college offers the three years B.A., B.Com. and B.B.M. degree courses. The College has completed Thirty-three years of fruitful service in the field of higher education and celebrated Silver Jubilee in the academic year 2004-05.
