Moirabari College, Morigaon was established in 1981. It is one of the premier institution of higher education Higher Education in the north-eastern part of Morigaon District.

The college is affiliated to Gauhati University, Guwahati on 12th September, 2007 and recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) Act, 1956 on 5th May, 2005. It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "C++" Grade on 27th February, 2006.

Moirabari College, located at a distance of about 30 kms. from Morigaon, the district headquarters of Morigaon of central Assam, was established in the early part of 
the eighties of the last century, at a juncture in the history of Assam when the entire state was under the grip of the turbulence of the Assam Movement.

The local populace comprising the socio-economically backward and marginalized religious and linguistic minorities inhabiting a vast area on the South bank of the mighty Brahmaputra River desired to have an institution of higher education that could play a vital role in educating the economically disadvantaged young generation of the rural area and specially the girls and women folk.

As a result of the unswerving enthusiasm and sincere endeavours of a few conscious citizens and social workers for turning the dream of the people into a reality, the college was established in 1981.

After the first accreditation of the college in 2006, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) is making sincere efforts to implement the diversified activities to address the various quality related issues during the post Accreditation years.

The college tried to comply with almost every recommendation made by the Peer Team at the time of accreditation in 2006 in a planned manner. We are trying sincerely to reach the excellence by enhancing our innate qualities, adopting innovative ideas, acquiring new skills, implementing new techniques and better understanding of our strength and weaknesses.

We sincerely hope that integrated efforts and positive approach will lead us towards the ‘Total Quality’, our cherished goal.

It was brought under Provincialized System by Govt. of Assam in December, 2005 paving the way for direct control of the state government in matters of service rules of the employee’s salary.
 
Keeping the local problems and issues in mind, the college imparts Distance Education under IDOL and provides various courses. This report is the outcome of all the various wings and components of the college. It is rather difficult to quote the contribution of each and every wing of the college.
 
The college offers two years Higher Secondary Courses in Arts & Commerce stream under Assam Higher Secondary Educational Council (AHSEC), Guwahati and three years Degree Courses in Arts & Commerce stream under Gauhati University, Guwahati. It also offers some Career Oriented Courses / Add On Course.

The college also has a Contact Centre of Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL), Gauhati University for PG courses. Besides this, the college is running a Study Centre of Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOPU), Guwahati.
