Malleswaram Ladies' Association First Grade College for Women, Bengaluru Urban was also known as MLA-FGCW, Bengaluru Urban was established on 24th August 1985 under the management of Malleswaram Ladies' Association which was established in 1927.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated to Bangalore University, Bengaluru and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) on 23rd August 1994 under Act, 1956.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade - (CGPA Score 3.06 on a 4 Point Scale in 3rd Cycle) on 28th March 2017.

It is also conferred the status as “COLLEGE WITH POTENTIAL FOR EXCELLENCE (CPE)" by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi on 1st April 2016 as per the circular dated 27th May 2016. The College was also selected to start Community College from the academic year 2013-14.

This college has been spreading higher education for the last 32 years among girls coming from every nook and corner of the district. After crossing many ups and downs, the college attained the status of Grant-in-Aid with effect from 1-9-1995.

The college came into being with the objective of imparting quality education in commerce for undergraduate girls. In its long tenure of 3 decades, the institution has molded many successful people in the area of commerce education.

The dedicated efforts of the faculty in imparting quality education in alignment with the mission has resulted in students doing extraordinarily well in academics, as reflected in the results of the University Examinations.

MLA has grown to a multilayered institution that spans the gamut from kindergarten to post-graduate education, driven by a mission to empower economically underprivileged girls and women.

At present, the college offers three years undergraduate course in Commerce stream under Bangalore University, Bengaluru.

The college also conducts a number of add-on-courses, value added courses, enrichment programs, curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular activities/programs, which are directed towards the realization of the vision, mission, goals & objectives as envisaged.
