Michael Madhusudan Memorial College, Durgapur was established in 1996.

 The College is affiliated to the University of Burdwan.

The college is named after Michael Madhusudan Memorial Dutta, the premier poet of Bengali an exalted place amongst the universities of West Bengal.

The UGC also advised to open a new college with the objectives to impart teaching in non-traditional subjects.

The college aims at unfolding to the fullest, the potentialities of the students.

College is motivated by the vision to produce good citizens, developed fully both in brain and brawn.
