MES Law College, Sirsi was established in 1975.

The inquisitive people of Sirsi hailed the move with all enthusiasm.

The torch of legal education was lit up in a small town like sirsi mainly by the sagacity, farsightedness and the missionary zeal of the dedicated persons like Late Shri .

G. S. Hegde, Ajjibal, a stalwort in Co-operation, Late S.R.Hegde, Kadve, the key man of the TSS, Late Shri. R. G. Bhat an eminent Law practioner and their innovative Ex-President Dr. V.S.Sonde and ever supportive nature of present President Shri Shantaram Hegde. The Law College is permanently affiliated to Karnataka University, Dhawad. Recognised by the Bar Council of India.

The College has been receiving grants from the Govt. of Karnataka under the Grant in aid scheme since 1987.

The College has been brought under 2(f) & 12 B by UGC , New Delhi. Modern Education Society was established in 1962, with a view to cater to the educational needs of the people of upperghat talukas of Uttara Kannada District.

Over the years the society has been offering laudable educational services, in different branches like Arts & Science, Commerce, Law Polytechnic, Job-oriented courses etc., Presently society has the distinction of running 14 reputed institutions of learning on an ideal campus of 90 acres. Since its inception the society is run by eminent & visionary persons.

It is very gratifying to note that every educational project of the society is aptly vision & meticulously implemented.
