M.E.S College, Nedumkandam (Dist. Idukki) is Muslim Minority College was established on 24th December 1982 and managed by Muslim Educational Society (R), which was established in 1964.

The college has been granted minority status by the Minority Commission of India.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone on the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) on May 1999 under Act, 1956.

It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade (in 1st Cycle) on 16th September 2004.

The aim of the college was at developing the physical, spiritual, intellectual, moral and aesthetic powers of the students so that they may transform themselves into intellectually trained, morally upright, socially committed and spiritually inspired men and women.

It is a co-educational private Institute, providing a regular course in which is located in the urban part of Idukki played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

Presently M.E.S. has a medical college, Dental College and Nursing College at Perinthalmanna, Engineering Colleges at Kuttippuram, Kunnukara and Chathannoor, Training Colleges at Edathala and Edathanattukara and Aided Arts and Science Colleges at Mannarkad, Ponnani, Kodungallur, Mampad, Valanchery, Nedumkandam & Marampally.

There are 20 self-financing Arts and Science Colleges, Higher Secondary Schools, Orphanages, Hospitals etc. are successfully running at various parts of Kerala under Muslim Educational Society.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the admission criteria prescribed by the affiliating university.

The college had received many awards and accolades at a city, state and national level for their educational advancements also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of sports and curricular activities under the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.

The college offers three years undergraduate and two years of postgraduate courses in Arts, Commerce, and Science streams with various specializations under the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. It also offers Add-On course.

University examinations of different courses, examinations conducted by the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, and various other examinations are held in the college premises.
