Matru Sewa Sangh Institute of Social Work, Nagpur was established in 1958 which was earlier known as the School of Social Work for Women, Nagpur was founded by Dr. Satyabala Tayal and managed under Matru Sewa Sangh which was established in 1921.
It is one of the premier Institute established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in their part of progress.
The Institute is affiliated with Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj University, Nagpur and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.
It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (CGPA Score 3.01 on a 4 Point Scale in 3rd Cycle) on 5th May 2014.
The Sanstha runs a network of sites dedicated to providing health services to the poor, including a maternity hospital, school for mentally retarded, home for the aged, child adoption services, working women’s hostel and family counseling centre.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the affiliating university.

The Institute offers certificate course of two years and three years of Bachelors degree course and also two years Master degree courses with specialization in Social Work. It also offers one year M.Phillosphy in Social Work.
Apart from that the Institute also offers Bachelor of Vocational (B.Voc) to the students who have minimum educational qualification required for a candidate to join B. Voc courses is HSC (12th standard) pass, and for the one-year diploma, in Geriatric Care the minimum qualification is SSC (10th standard) pass.
The institute offers three years B.Voc in Early Child Development, B.Voc in Child Protection and one-year Diploma in Geriatric Care which is affiliated with Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai.
