Maulana Azad Educational Society's Marathwada College of Education, Aurangabad was established in April 1970 under the management of Maulana Azad Educational Trust and founded by Late Dr. Rafiq Zakaria.
It is one of the premier minority colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in their part of progress.
The college is affiliated with Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) in April 1971 under Act, 1956.
It is also recognized and approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Bhopal to offer B.Ed. and M.Ed. courses and re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (CGPA Score 3.11 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 25th May 2016.
The main aim of the college is determined to provide the quality education to the future teachers. The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the affiliating university.
The college offers two years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) courses for those who have completed their graduation with minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.
Students here are admitted who completed their graduation from recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the Degree level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled to a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility for admission.
The college offers two years Master of Education (M.Ed.) course for those who have completed their Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) with the minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.

The college has received numbers of awards and also it has been ISO Certified by TUV Austria EN ISO 9001:2008.
Under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Teacher Education, Marathwada College of Education, Aurangabad has been upgraded as College of Teacher Education (CTE) by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, New Delhi, in the year 2005, encompassing four districts Aurangabad, Jalna, Beed and Ahmednagar in general and Rest of Maharashtra in particular with special emphasis on the quality improvement of Pre-Service and In-Service Teachers of Urdu Medium Secondary Schools.
The college also has a study centre of Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU), Nashik & Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi to offer various courses through distance mode.
The college is also upgraded as College of Teacher Education (CTE) catering to the In-Service training for Urdu medium school teachers throughout Maharashtra.
