Malyagiri Mahavidyalaya, Pallahara was established in 1979.

Its affiliated to Utkal University.

The College caters to the needs of higher education among the rural youth in general and youth of the locality in particular.

It was started in "Sarat Chandra Club". Meanwhile, the patrons, the enthusiasts, the local intellects and dignitaries started searching for an ideal location for the con­struction of the permanent building of the college.

The affiliation was accorded by the Council of higher Secondary Education, Orissa to open Science stream with Physics, Chemistry, Math and Biology from session 1993-94.
