Maitreyi College, Delhi was established in the year 1967.

Maitreyi College founded in 1967, is an eminent constituent college of University of Delhi, offering quality education to women. Academic excellence is an established tradition of the college, accompanied with continuous achievements in the field of sports, extra-curricular, co-curricular and cultural activities. The college strives for a multidimensional approach towards holistic development of our fraternity (Maitreyi Kutumb) and focus on inculcating critical thinking and stimulating research; community building and social outreach engendering inclusivity; gostering entrepreneurship; instilling eco-consciousness; promoting employability and skill enhancement, encouraging interdisciplinarity; developing student enrichment and intervention strategies to support students' learning inter alia. It is one of the top six colleges to be conferred star status (for all Science departments) by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India; was awarded "A++" Grade in the NAAC Accreditation cycle of 2021; and had an all-India NIRF Rank of 34 in 2022.
