Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramoday University (MGCGV) was established in 1991 by Rashtrarishi Nanaji Deshmukh.
The university was named after Mahatma Gandhi, where the university aims at providing higher education mainly to people living in rural areas with emphasis on preparing man power devoted to upliftment of poor and down-trodden.
The University has taken keen interest in exploring alternative sources of energy, developing skills in rural artisans.
