Mahatma Gandhi Centenary Arts, Commerce and Ganesh Dodamane Science College, Siddapur (Dist. Uttara Kannada) was established in 1969 under the management of Shikshan Prasarak Samiti.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated to Karnatak University, Dharwad and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.

It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade - (in 2nd Cycle) on 23rd March 2013.

This college was started with the great vision of the philanthropist of this region Late Shri Ganesh Hegde Dodmane, to make Higher Education accessible at an affordable cost to the youths of this backward region, who were deprived of it for a long time.

The college was established in 1969 the birth centenary year of the father of nation Mahatma Gandhi. Though initially it was started offering B.A. Degree Course, very soon (1977) it started B.Com Course also.

With the introduction of Science Degree in 1991-92 as a fully self-financing course, it attained the status of a full fledged Degree College.

This college was formerly known as ‘Mahatma Gandhi Centenary Arts & Commerce College’, a prestigious institution of the erstwhile ‘Sahakari Shikshana Prsaraka Samithi’ established under Cooperative Act.

But with the subsequent introduction of B.Sc. Degree with dedicated and committed efforts of Shri Ganesh Hegde Dodmane, who donated a generous sum for this purpose, the college was renamed in the year 1992 as “Mahatma Gandhi Centenary Arts, Commerce and Ganesh Hegde Dodmane Science College.

It is a matter of reverence that the college is blessed by the great seer His Holiness Shri Shri Vishweshateertha Shreepadangalavaru, Udupi as its Chancellor for some time.

The college campus is spread over 30 acres of land, situated in Siddapur 2 Km away on the left side of Siddapur-Sirsi road, Uttara Kannada Dist.

It is a matter of pride that Prof B H Shridhar, a great scholar in Sanskrit and a poet was the founder Principal, who laid the strong foundation upon which the College has progressed consistently over the years.

At present, the college offers three years undergraduate courses in Arts, Science, & Commerce with various optional specializations under Karnatak University, Dharwad.
