Established on September 21, 1995, Maharshi Valmiki College of Education was established by the Govt of NCT of Delhi as a constituent college of the University of Delhi to cater quality education for the aspiring students in Delhi.

The college is at present affiliated and run the courses under the University of Delhi, New Delhi. It was also recognized & approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Jaipur.

The college was also recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) in June 2013 under Act, 1956 and it was accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade - (CGPA Score 3.15 on a 4 Point Scale in 1st Cycle) on March 17, 2016.

To provide the quality education to the future teachers, the college is determined with the correct mix of technology and human touch, the college empowers the aspiring teachers to propagate education through the rungs of the society so that they serve the nation while making a satisfying career for themselves.

At present, the college offers two years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course for those who have completed their graduation with minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.

Students here are admitted who completed their graduation from recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the Degree level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled to a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility for admission.
