Madhabdev College, Lakhimpur was established in 1964. It is one of the premier institution of higher education in the district of Lakhimpur Assam.

The college is affiliated to Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) Act, 1956. It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "C++" Grade.

The college was founded and named after the great vaishnavite leader Guru Sri Madhabdev, the cultural architect that synthesized and integrated the Assamese society.

It offers education in the streams of Arts and Science at +2 and Undergraduate level. lt has 15 full fledged teaching departments with adequate infrastructure. The college in its humble way helps to spread higher education in this tribal belt of rural and backward area of the state besides trimming talents in fields of games and sports, culture, literature and social service. It also offers some career-oriented courses and vocational courses.

Rules & Regulations at Madhabdev College, Lakhimpur:

General Rules for Maintenance of discipline among the students:

• Great emphasis is laid on discipline and character building and the students are expected to maintain high standard of discipline
• Students are subject to the rules and regulation adopted by the College authority. Violation of such rules, damaging college property, showing discourtesy to teachers, staff members, fellow students are offences leading to disciplinary action
• In pursuance to the Judgment of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India dated 08.05.2009 in Civil Appeal No. 887/2009, the University Grants Commission has framed “UGC Regulations on curbing the menace of ragging in higher educational institutions, 2009” which have been notified on 4th July, 2009 in the Gazette of India. These regulations are mandatory for all Universities/Institutions. Therefore, it is mandatory for all students/parents to submit anti ragging related affidavits to the institutions at the time of admission
