About M.S. Irani Arts, Science & Commerce Degree College

M.S. (Muluk Sherier) Irani Arts, Science & Commerce Degree College, Kalaburagi was established on 1st June 1967 by the generous donation from Late. Shri Homi Irani in memory of his Late father Shri Muluk Sherier Irani and established under the management of Hyderabad Karnataka Education Society which was established in 1958 by Late Shri. Mahadevappa Rampure.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The foundation stone of the college was laid by Late Shri Veerendra Patil, Former Chief Minister of Karnataka and Minister for Shipping and Transportation Govt. of India.

The college is affiliated to Gulbarga University, Kalaburagi and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) on 19th July 1982 under Act, 1956.

It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade - (CGPA Score 2.32 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 17th March 2016.

This college came into existence after winding the PPC course in MSI Institute. The founder President thought of transforming MSI Institute catering PPC course into Arts, Science and Commerce College.

Thus the Institute took birth, Sri Homi Irani, the well-known contractor had generously assisted for building and this college was named after his father Shri Muluk Sherar Irani. Initially, the College was in Engineering College Campus.

Later on, the new building was constructed under the stewardship of the then President Dr. A.B. Malakareddy. The President took initiation and concern for the college as its target group of students were from a rural background. The new building was inaugurated on 7th September 1981 by Sri Veerendra Patil, the then Union Minister.

The function was graced by the presence Sri Mallikarjun Kharge, Revenue Minister and Sri. Dharam Singh, Urban Development Minister.

The function was presided by Dr. A.B. Malakareddy.

At present, the college offers three years undergraduate courses in Arts, Science, & Commerce streams with various specializations under Gulbarga University, Kalaburagi. It also offers some Certificate courses.

  • The college has established an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) on 10th August 2007  to assure the quality of the college and also details regarding submission of Annual Quality Assurance Reports (AQAR) to NAAC annually
  • The college runs a canteen inside the campus where staff and students can have meals and snacks prepared in a hygienic manner and at an affordable cost
  • Internet facilities may be availed by the students and teachers as per their needs
  • Transportation facility is available for the students
  • The college has a significant presence in the field of research. A number of major & minor research projects are awarded to the faculty members by the UGC and other bodies
  • The college has a large playground with will-equipment for different sports like Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Hockey, Badminton and so on
  • A medical facility has been available in the college for the benefit of the students
  • State Government and Central Government offers a number of scholarships to the meritorious students and the students belonging to SC / ST / OBC
  • A special complaint cell (Sexual Harassment Cell) has been formed for the female students in the college. Students can directly complain orally or by written application to the head of the cell. Apart from this, Ragging is strictly prohibited on the college campus
  • The institution has provided ICT facilities like computers, projectors, audio-visual gadgets, scanners and printers to the departments and also other aids and a huge number of availability of books for effective delivery of curriculum and for inculcating the knowledge of the subject

  • The college also organizes workshops, seminars, and conferences for improving teaching skills and methodology
  • The college also provides NCC training to its students. The NCC cadets attend different camps and earn pride for themselves and for the college
  • The college Unit NSS Wing performs different type of social services within and outside of the area
  • The college consists Women Cell to help female students. This cell helps and guides girls to sort out from their personal problem and avoid them from any harassment
