Lajpat Rai D.A.V. College, Jagraon (Dist. Ludhiana) was established on 26th August 1959 by Radhakrishnan (R.K) Trust (R) established by Sh. Lala Lajpat Rai in the memory of his father Sh. Radha Krishan.

Later it was managed by DAV College Managing Committee (DAVCMC) which was established in 1987 is the largest non-governmental organization in the field of education in India today.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with Panjab University, Chandigarh and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) on 11th May 2004 under Act, 1956.

It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade (in 1st Cycle) on 19th January 2016.

The aim of the college was to produce individuals who are physically stout, morally upright, mentally alert, socially awakened, nationally enterprising and are rooted firmly in the cultural and traditional values of their glorious past.

It was a co-educational self-financed Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the urban part of Ludhiana played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college was initially named as Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial college and provided education to undergraduate classes of B.A and B.SC. only. Later this institution was taken over by DAV.

The college also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of education, sports and curricular activities under Panjab University, Chandigarh.

The college offers two years intermediate courses in Arts and Computer Application streams with various specializations under Council of Higher Secondary Education, Mohali.

At present, the college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts, Management, Science, and Commerce streams and offers two years of postgraduate courses in Arts, Science, and Commerce streams with various specializations under Panjab University, Chandigarh.

It also offers Diploma, Post Graduate Diploma, and Add-On Certificate courses.
