Lowry Adventist College & Group of Institutions, Bangalore was establsihed in 1915. Its affiliated to Bangalore University.
When Elder G.G. Lowry established it in Coimbatore. In 1916, the name Higher Secondary School was changed to ‘South India Training School. In 1921, the school was moved to a rented quarters in Bangalore Cantonment.
In 1931, another boarding school was started at Basavanagudi, Bangalore for the benefit of training Kannada speaking people. Due to several reasons it was closed down in 1932 and its student body was invited to become part of South India Training School at Krishnarajapuram. The South India Training School steadily grew to become Spicer Memorial which is situated in Pune.
In 1942, the campus was taken by the Government for military purpose and the school was relocated at Kollegal where it remained until 1945. In the same year, the School had to change its location to Channapatna.In 1946, the School property was relinquished by the Government and the School was moved for the last time to this location.
It was named after Dr G.G. Lowry to honour the memory of this noted educationist and social worker of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Southern Asia Division.
Lowry Adventist College & Group of Institutions is part of the worldwide network of Educational Institutions operated by the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Chruch Organization. THe Organization runs more than 300 Schools and Colleges in India and around 10,000 Schools and 150 Colleges and Universities all ove rhte world.
HISTORY
Lowry Adventist College & Grop of Institutions began as South India Training School at Coimbatore in 1915. It was established by Elder Gentry G. Lowry and his wife Bertha Lowry, who were Missionaries from the USA. The School moved to the present location in 1917. During the course of time the SouthIndia TrainingSchool was remaned as Spicer Missionary College.
In the year 1942, During World War II, the campus was taken over by the British Government for their military needs. The School was relocated to Kollegal and Chennapatna where it renamed until 1946. The College relocated to Spicer Memorial College in Pune, Which is now Spicer Adventist University. In the yer 1946, the British Government handed over the property back to the School Management. The School was moved for the last time to its present location and it was renamed as Lowry Memorial High School in honour of the founder late Elder Genry G. Lowry.
