About Kuvempu University

Kuvempu University (KU), Shimoga was established in 1987. It is one of the youngest affiliating University in Karnataka.

Kuvempu is a university with a distinctive academic profile, blending in itself commitment to rural ethos and a modern spirit.

The main objective of the university is to foster creativity in teaching, learning, and research, to build a knowledge base and promote the quality initiative to provide access to education.

The academic life on the campus is vibrant and exciting with seminars, symposia, special lectures and workshops throughout the year.

Both the conventional and non-conventional course of study have updated syllabi responsive to the needs of the contemporary society and the research orientation is innovative, original and directed to societal needs.

A medical facility has been available in the college for the benefit of the students
State Government and Central Government offers a number of scholarships to the meritorious students and the students belonging to SC / ST / OBC
A special complaint cell (Sexual Harassment Cell) has been formed for the female students in the college. Students can directly complain orally or by written application to the head of the cell. Apart from this, Ragging is strictly prohibited on the college campus
The institution has provided ICT facilities like computers, projectors, audio-visual gadgets, scanners and printers to the departments and also other aids and a huge number of availability of books for effective delivery of curriculum and for inculcating the knowledge of the subject.
To sharpen the skill of students and their personality development, various curricular and extra-curricular activities are the regular features of the institution.
The university also organizes workshops, seminars, and conferences for improving teaching skills and methodology.
The university also provides NCC training to its students. The NCC cadets attend different camps and earn pride for themselves and for the college
The university Unit NSS Wing performs different type of social services within and outside of the area
The university consists Women Cell to help female students. This cell helps and guides girls to sort out from their personal problem and avoid them from any harassment
