Kasegaon Education Society’s Smt. Kusumtai Rajarambapu Patil Kanya Mahavidyalaya, (Arts, Commerce & Science), Islampur (Dist. Sangli) was popularly known as KRP College, Islampur was established on 8th December 1964 and managed under Kasegaon Education Society which was established in 1945. But the college came into existence in 1989.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with the Shivaji University, Kolhapur and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.
 
It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (CGPA Score 3.02 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 10th March 2012.

The objective of the institute is to disseminate the women’s education and inculcation of need-based academic and intellectual skills and to inculcate moral values and scientific temper.

The Kasegaon Education Society has been established numbers of colleges/schools for the student in the region of Maharashtra and all over the India.

Consequently, today the society runs thirty-one primary and secondary school and eleven higher education institutions which include three Arts Commerce & Science college, three information technology institutes, an autonomous engineering college, a nursing college and two pharmacy college.

It is a women's private institute, providing a regular course which is located in an urban part of  Kolhapur played a pioneering role in the field of higher education. the campus is located in another city also has a different name of institutions.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the affiliating university.

This college has awarded as the best college by the Shivaji University, Kolhapur. Also a number of awards in publication, offering scholarship also awarded by the different society.

The college also offers three years undergraduate courses in Arts, Science, Commerce & Management streams with various specializations and offers two years postgraduate courses in Science stream under Shivaji University, Kolhapur.
