Kodachadri Government First Grade College, Hosanagara (Dist. Shivamogga) was established on 16th August 1985 by the Government of Karnataka.

It is one of the premier institutions to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated to Kuvempu University, Shivamogga and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) 25th February 2004 under Act, 1956.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade - (CGPA Score 2.85 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 29th March 2016.

The college began from B.A and B.Com courses. The college, in the beginning, started in two rooms belongs to the municipality. Then it was shifted to the primary school building.

In the year 2002, the college shifted to its own new building.  The college took affiliation from Kuvempu University to start BBM course in the year 2006 and B.Sc course during 2010. The building is 1.5 k.m  away from  Hosanagara town.

The institution sent the proposal to government and government also sanctioned Science disciplinary, PMCs and CBZ on 2008. But the lack of infrastructure and also admission institution could not start science on 2008.

The government released the fund for science and then institution started it on 2010. Instead of PMCs, we started PCM because this is a rural area. The students did not interest to join like Computer courses because of urban colleges like Shimoga and Sagar are giving good and well-equipped education in this discipline. So, by the demand of our area stakeholders, the institution started PCM.

At present, the college offers three years undergraduate courses in Arts, Science, Commerce, & Management streams with various kind of specializations. It also offers two years postgraduate courses in Arts stream with some kind of specializations under Kuvempu University, Shivamogga.

The institution has introduced an Add-On Certificate Course in Communicating Skill - English & Basic Computer.

Mission:

• By promoting the college into an institution of excellence which will serve the rural youth by providing them with easy access to higher education and job opportunities the college will strive towards integrated personality, the growth of rural student in particular and students at large in which special attention is given to their intellectual, moral and cultural development. It will inculcate discipline, higher levels of culture and time values of life among the youth

Objectives:

The following objectives are identified to fulfill the Vision and Mission of the College:

• To serve the student community who are poor, needy, socially and economically weaker in this region
• To develop transformation in rural youth into educationally, morally, culturally and spiritually good citizens with greater employment opportunities
• To uplift rural women who lack educational opportunities
• To raise rural people by providing them counseling, orientation programs and creating awareness on job avenues and permanent income by offering employment with reasonable earnings, and to lead a comfortable life
• To provide well-educated youth who can challenge the competitors both at national and international level
• The college admits socially and economically disadvantaged students hailing from rural pockets shapes them and works for their betterment in their life
• To inculcate discipline among the students, moral instruction classes and workshops have been arranged
• To provide academic excellence among students, the performance of each student is identified and taken care
• To motivate the Students participations in seminars, conferences, campus recruitments and are encouraged to develop their hidden skills
